English Programs
Intensive English Program
The Intensive English Program (IEP) is a full-time program that will help you develop your English skills as quickly as possible.
UMD Support Courses
For University of Maryland students whose admission requires enrollment in the English Bridge Program (UMEI 005), or the Advanced English Writing Class (UMEI 007).
International Teaching Assistants
International Teaching Assistants (ITA) are offered a teaching assistantship by their graduate school department.

MEI hosts a variety of activities and events for the IEP. These events help our students better understand American culture. They are also a great opportunity to make friends and have fun speaking English. In addition to IEP activities, MEI hosts the Speaking Partners Program every semester. Our students are matched with a native English speaker to continue practicing their language skills beyond the classroom.
